Map Progress!

Hey there friends! We here at Lightning Wizards Publishing are hard at work on so many, various, nitty gritty tasks to get our sweet baby project on the way toward being functional and flavored up to our standards. While I write this post for you all, I’m listening to Brew and Nils talk about the mechanics of how they want status effects to work and that’s really not something I’m great with.
BUT! I have so many thoughts on our map! Our main plan was to, well, make it look like a Bullseye. We’ve had a few iterations of how we wanted it presented, on a scale from Minimal Tactical to Maximum. I’m personally a fan of the Maximum Tactical but, I also understand the point of keeping it more simple.
Listen, minimum is fine, inoffensive, easy to grasp, but I’m particular, I want a little more oomph! That brought us to Medium Tactical:
Oh, it’s got more going for it, the movement is more expensive. This is the vibe I love, but I want more! We can go so hard on this and it’d be fun!
And finally, we have my sweet child whom I love very much, Maximum Tactical:
Maximum Tactical, I love you so much. I feel like working with other people to make your project come to life is a deeply rewarding process with compromises and joking abound, we also decided that maybe this was too much. I will be a fan of this sweet and overly complex map for the rest of my days. When our first playtest went out to GenCon in the hands of Brew and Nils, we decided that a modified Medium Tactical map was the way to go!
It’s well done, it does well in what we’re going for, and almost feels like pulling a dart board right off the wall. I have come to love it very much, honestly. I wonder if ten years down the line we’ll still be using this same map, or if we’re gonna have new ideas that mean we change it. For now though? This is the Apex Predator of maps, and we love it for that!
Look forward to our ongoing work and me posting new images to old pages!
